The chalet was built in 1863. After one year there was built sheep-fold, but it burn out. In the beginning of 20th century the new mountain hotel starts to work there. Ovčárna is famous crossroads of tourist ways and ski-centre under the mountain Praděd. You can go there by bus. It is also an important start-point to trips to Praděd, Petrovy rocks, nature trail of Bílá Opava or nature trail Velká kotlina.
